There are big changes afoot and I wanted my SavoryGirl fans to be the first to hear about them! First, let me apologize for my recent lack of attention to SavoryGirl in general…as I’ve been thinking though some of these things and figuring out what it means for SavoryGirl I’ve definitely neglected the site and all of you. I’m sure you’ve noticed over the past few months though that my weekly menus aren’t very helpful since I’m out socializing a lot more in my fabulous new single life. I’ve also been mailing it in a bit on other content since I’m not cooking as often, which doesn’t feel good and certainly isn’t engaging for my readers. So I apologize for that…and while I can’t guarantee things will turn around overnight, I’m more excited about SavoryGirl and other related projects than I have been in a while!
So what are these changes? Let me give you a few ideas…
- Refocusing SavoryGirl Content. I’ve been working on a fun business idea on the side lately…I’m not going to go into a ton of detail just yet, but it’s all around food, wine and experiential tourism. As I’ve been working on this idea, it’s been stealing time from SavoryGirl but at an entrepreneurship conference I was at recently it became apparent to me that I should be leveraging SavoryGirl to help fuel this idea! So my content will be shifting in balance….away from menus & recipes and more towards foodie experiences/travel. The good news is, I already do quite a bit of foodie travel and fun as you can see in the pictures above…so now I’m going to share all of it with you!
- No More Weekly Menus. What?! That was how SavoryGirl started and has been the cornerstone for 4 years! I know, I know. But in all reality they’ve become more an overview of my weekly activities than anything useful to anyone trying to plan a weekly menu for cooking dinner. It’s just the reality of what’s going on in my life right now, so instead of going through the motions and feeling bad about the output I’m just going to accept the reality and adapt. So no more weekly menus…but I will still link to past seasonal menus in the right sidebar as I have been.
- No more Omaha Steaks Guest Blog Posts. While this was fun (and yummy!) for a while, it was taking up a lot of my time and distracting me from SavoryGirl and some other goals that I have.
- Quality Over Quantity. This means there may be fewer posts, at least to start, but the posts I do publish will be ones that I’m truly proud of, have put effort into and enjoy. I hope that means you’ll enjoy them more too.
I’m excited about these changes and I’m confident they’re a move in the right direction, even if it takes a bit of time to get there. If you have ideas for great wine or food events, experiences or travel that I should feature as I get started please feel free to share. Or if you want to guest post with some of your own I’d love to hear from you too!
